The National Park City Foundation is looking for several new Trustees to join our board in 2025. Our Trustees volunteer their time and bring their experience and expertise to support our long term grassroots movement for everyone making our cities greener, healthier, and wilder.
We are looking for candidates who, regardless of their skills, experience and profession, are striving towards having a deeper and more intimate connection with nature in their day-to-day lives.

We’re looking for candidates who come from a broad spectrum of life experiences and life stages. As with our Ranger community we want our Trustee board to be as diverse and representative of the communities that we serve and seek to support.
As a Trustee you’ll feel the depth of the multiple crises we face in regards to climate, biodiversity and social inequality in your bones, but you’ll be motivated and passionate to contribute to positive and practical solutions to these challenges where everyone can contribute in their own way every day.
You won’t have all the answers, but you’ll help us ask the right questions, as to how we can make our young movement more generous, active, and participatory.
This may well be your first time applying to be a Trustee, and candidates do not need to have prior experience or qualifications – we’ll provide mentoring, training and support to help successful applicants get started, and bring them up to speed on our approach and purpose.
Why we’re appointing new Trustees
Most of our Trustees serve for two consecutive terms of three years each.
We currently have 10 Trustees with two vacancies. We have a number of Trustees stepping down over the next six months, and two more stepping down next year, so this is an important period of transition for the movement and our charity.
We’re working hard to maintain organisational continuity, whilst bringing fresh skills and perspective for the next stage of our journey.
Some of the Trustees stepping down this year have been active since the very early days of our movement, since before we became a charity in 2017. They will continue to contribute in different ways as advisors and supporters, and in some cases continuing to directly contribute to our working groups and in other ways.
The contribution you will make
Most of our Trustees contribution happens through attending and participating in our board meetings which take place every couple of months, usually in person in Central London, but sometimes online as necessary. Trustees usually contribute around 12 to 18 days per year.
Candidates need to be prepared to fulfil their legal obligations and responsibilities as a Trustee of the charity. Contributing to and ensuring good governance, and financial probity, and acting as a valued ambassador for our movement. They’ll need to be willing to represent the charity from time to time, in ways that are complementary to other aspects of your life and career.
Like all members of our movement we expect candidates to conduct themselves in a respectful and supportive manner, and extend a duty of care to your colleagues, staff and volunteers.
In support of this we’ll be respectful of their time and contribution, and we can provide support for relevant paid childcare, travel, and expenses, that may best help them fulfil their duties as a Trustee.
Successful Trustees will contribute towards the telling of a powerful and inspirational story that will help tens of thousands of people take the steps they need to make their streets, neighbourhoods, and cities greener, healthier, and wilder.
